Day 2 - Wed 11 Jun 14, Dubai to Zurich

We arrived in Dubai (DXB) pretty much on time and made our way through the maze that is Dubai International Airport to the Emirates Lounge in Terminal A.  We spent a relaxing 3 hours in the Emirates lounge and even had time for a shower.  We also went for a walk through Duty Free and the huge lounge to stretch our legs a bit before having to board another plane for the flight to Zurich.

We boarded the plane for Zurich (ZRH) on time and as we were organizing ourselves in our seats, Wendy asked one of the attendants how full the flight was and he said "quite empty". So, just before they closed the doors, Wendy found ourselves two empty rows of 4 seats in row 77 and 78 and promptly set up shop!  These rows were also in front of the galley but as it was not the main one near row 51, it was not as noisy.  The flight was about one third full in economy.

We arrived in Zurich a little later than expected and were through Immigration and Customs quite quickly. We found a nice quite spot of the arrivals lounge to unpack and set up the bikes which took a little over an hour. That included changing into cycle clothes.

We made our way very slowly to our hotel (Hotel Senator); we got geographically embarrassed a few times and had to ask a few people for directions. They were all very helpful and very friendly. It took us about 2.5 hrs to ride the 10-12 km and not having had much sleep didn't help the navigational skills all that much. The super duper French sim card I bought wasn't working and neither were our iiNet ones - aaaaggghhhhh! However, we made it to the hotel just as Wendy finished her last drop of water. It was quite a warm day.

After checking-in, securing the bikes in the underground garage we found our room and unpacked and had a shower. Instead of having a nana nap, we went for a walk and found a lovely restaurant - SamSes, which as it turned out was a vegetarian place! It was only as we were ordering that we found this out. Anyway, Wendy had a tasty "cheese burger" and Greg had a "schnitzel ".   It was probably all we needed after three meals on the flights and snacks during the stopover in DXB.  On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at Migros supermarket and bought some groceries – fruit, etc.  We did very well in staying awake for so long but the lights went out about 2100h.
