Day 3 - Thu 12 Jun 14, Zurich
Forecast: 18-28 deg C
We were up at 6:30am and as we just wanted to get our bearings and get rid of the cobwebs, there was no riding, only walking.
After having a really good coffee (there was a Nespresso machine in the room complete with pods) we walked to McDonalds for breakfast. As we found on our Tour Down Under trip earlier this year, Maccas is not all bad. We had a bacon and egg wrap with another coffee.
We then walked to the river then followed it to the lake – Lake Zurich. After a bit of walking, we found a good spot and sat for a while watching the wildlife and various watercraft. As neither of our phones were not working we decided to try and find a phone shop to ask “why?” It was just after 9am when we found the Orange shop, only to find it did not open until 10am. In fact, not much apart from food and souvenir shops, open until 10am. It was then back to the hotel to think about what to do. We went home via Migros for lunch supplies.
After lunch Wendy tried to contact iiNet to activate international roaming. She ended up using Skype Wi-Fi and eventually got hold of them and got it all sorted. Wendy also contacted Le French Mobile (LFM) only to be told that the sim does not work for data outside EU, even though the website spruiks about it being the best sim card for Europe???!!!!.
On our walk home from the lake we saw a lovely Thai restaurant about 2 blocks from the hotel so decided to have that for dinner. We decided that we should wait until at least 6:30 pm, but when we got there, it was open, but only for renovations, and would not be ready until the 17th Jun!!! Hugely inconsiderate we thought so resorted to supermarket leftovers.
