Day 4 - Fri 13 Jun 14, Zurich

Forecast: 12-26 deg C

Listed distance: 0km; Actual distance: 28km

We were up and about by 6:30am and had a coffee each.  We did some housekeeping, checked emails, etc before heading off, on the bikes to Maccas for brekky about 7:30am. After breakfast we kept on riding and checked out the route out of the city for Sunday 's ride to Quarten.  We were on the Eastern side of the lake and Wendy did not think it was a very good path. However, the motorists are generally very patient, courteous and slow down instead of trying to pass when they shouldn't. Still, Wendy did not feel comfortable.

On the way back, we took a detour to the Botanic Gardens. On the way there Wendy had another stack – we had a truck coming up behind us and a car coming the other way so decided the foot path would be a better place to be riding. She did not quite time it right or get the angle of approach correct and kind of skidded along the side of the kerb for a bit before eventually mounting it. However, she had already lost her balance and executed a spectacular forward roll off the bike as it went down. Just as well she had decided that clipping-in was a bad idea after her first accident on foreign soil. Nothing was damaged except for her pride. This riding on the other side of the road is a little tough to get used to.
On the way home from the Botanic Gardens, we went via the city and found a different Orange shop and was all ready to buy a sim, but Wendy did not have her passport. So we made our way back to the hotel and had left-overs from yesterday for lunch: bread roll with rare beef and Camembert for Wendy, and Greg had a smoked salmon salad with red kraut then yoghurt, almonds and prunes for dessert.
We did some more "housekeeping", had a little nap and went out again on foot. We found another Orange shop closer to the hotel at the main train station and bought a new sim.  Wendy paid CHF10 and it supposedly comes 1GB of data for a month.  It still wasn't working by the time we got back to the hotel and Wendy was really angry and frustrated then! Just as well the hotel has free Wi-Fi.  After a while Wendy figured out why the sim was not working, deleted the LFM profile, and hey presto, had internet on the phone!

Went to Mama Africa for dinner which was just across and a few paces up the road from the hotel.  We both had boerevors and Castle beer.
